A social story to help your child know what to expect when they visit Neuronest for the first time. Read it together before you come, as many times as they need.
A story about what will happen when I go to Neuronest for the first time.
Today I am going to a place called Neuronest.
I will go there with someone I know.
When I arrive, I will see the front door.
I can walk in when I am ready.
Someone at Neuronest will say hello to me.
They are kind. It is okay if I do not want to talk right away.
I will see a big room with lots of things to do.
I can look around first before I start playing.
There are things to climb, swing, and jump on.
I can play with them if I want to.
There are also quiet things to do, like puzzles and art.
I can choose what I feel like doing.
If I feel overwhelmed, there is a special calm room I can go to.
It has soft lights and a cosy seat. It is a safe place to rest.
There might be other children at Neuronest.
I do not have to play with them. I can play on my own if I want.
When it is time to go, the grown-up with me will let me know.
We will leave together and go home.
I did it. I visited Neuronest.
I can come back again.
Social stories help neurodivergent children prepare for new experiences by walking them through what will happen in simple, predictable steps. We encourage you to read this story with your child as many times as they need before their first visit.
You can also print it and bring it with you so your child can refer to it during the visit itself.
Every child moves through the space at their own pace. There is no pressure to engage with anything before they are ready. Our team is trained to follow the child's lead.
If your child has specific needs or sensory sensitivities you would like us to know about before the visit, please WhatsApp us at +254 768 199 515 and we will make sure the right preparation is in place.
